Bihar temple allegedly washed after Kanhaiya Kumar’s visit, sparks controversy

A viral video on social media showed people allegedly washing a temple in Bihar after Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar currently visited, as per reports.

The video was shared by a news agency, of the Durga temple in Sirhasa of Bihar, which was allegedly being ‘washed’ after Kumar’s visit for his ongoing “Palayan Roko, Naukri Do” (Stop Migration, Provide Jobs) yatra.

However, as per reports, Kumar belongs to an upper-caste Bhumihar community.

It went viral on social media in no time, inviting widespread comments. Gyan Ranjan Gupta, a Congress leader, alleged the ruling government, BJP, of promoting untouchability after the incident.

On the other hand, BJP’s Asit Nath Tiwari questioned the authenticity of the video but reportedly said that this also shows people rejecting Kumar’s political ideology.

Locals near the temple told a media house that the temple welcomes people of all backgrounds.

Congress has launched the 'Naukri Do, Palayan Roko' Padyatra in Bihar, highlighting unemployment and migration issues in the state. The yatra reached Samastipur on Tuesday, receiving a warm response from the public.

Congress leader Khera emphasised that migration remains a major issue for Bihar.

"Our 'Naukri Do, Palayan Roko' Yatra focuses on this, as migration deeply hurts Bihar's pride. People are forced to leave their homes, culture, and families in search of jobs and opportunities. But Bihar has enough resources and the potential not only to provide jobs to its people but also to attract outsiders," he added.

He added that Bihar has enough resources and potential to generate jobs, but instead, people are forced to leave their homes, culture, and families in search of employment.

"Our yatra aims to highlight this issue and push for solutions. Congress is focused on real, fundamental issues. With a new leadership team and renewed enthusiasm, our party is ready to fight on these critical matters. Elections should be based on real concerns, and that's where the political discourse should be centred," Khera said.

Congress has been questioning Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's ability to govern, citing concerns over his physical and mental health.
