Bengaluru Woman Found Dead 4 Months After Marriage, Note Alleges Harassment

A 25-year-old teacher allegedly died by suicide at her home in Bengaluru, leaving behind a handwritten note in which she accused her husband and sister-in-law of harassment.

The deceased, identified as Shwetha, was a native of Chikkamagaluru and lived in Sunkadakatte under the Kamakshipalya police station limits. She worked at a private school in Bengaluru.

Death Note Mentions Alleged Harassment

According to police, Shwetha allegedly died by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence around 11 pm on Sunday.

Police said a handwritten note recovered from the house claimed that continuous harassment by her husband and his sister had driven her to take the extreme step.

In the note, she addressed her mother, writing, “If I die, please don’t spare them, mother.” She also apologised to her family, saying, “I made a mistake. Please forgive me.”

The note further stated that her husband and sister-in-law were responsible for her death and alleged that she had been subjected to torture and no longer wished to live.

Couple Had Married Four Months Ago

Police said Shwetha had entered into a love marriage around four months ago. The couple got married at the Shakti Ganapathi Temple in Kamalanagar, Bengaluru, and had been living together since then.

Investigation Underway

A case has been registered at the Kamakshipalya Police Station. Police have seized the alleged suicide note and are verifying the allegations mentioned in it.

Officials said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation. The exact circumstances leading to the incident are still being probed.
