Bengaluru students kidnap classmate to fund lavish lifestyle, demands ₹50k in ransom

In a shocking incident from Bengaluru, a group of college students allegedly abducted their own classmate in an attempt to extort money for personal expenses.

According to reports, the accused students from Bihar, Jamshedpur, Kerala, and Bengaluru targeted a fellow student, Mohanty, who is originally from Odisha. They reportedly lured him out of his hostel, forcibly took him in a car, and confined him in a rented room.

The group then reached out to the victim’s friends, demanding a ransom of ₹50,000 for his release. The friends transferred ₹10,000 and immediately contacted emergency services by dialling 112.

The Madiwala police reportedly used location tracking to trace the suspects. In a quick operation, they managed to rescue the victim and apprehend all four accused within two hours.

During the investigation, police recovered a fake metal gun, a knife, and the vehicle used in the abduction. Authorities have registered an FIR and are continuing further inquiries into the case.

Further details revealed that the suspects were known to the victim, as they were all students of the same college.
