Baramati Protest: Rohit Pawar demands probe into Ajit Pawar Plane crash
Rohit Pawar staged a protest outside the Baramati police station on Wednesday, demanding a detailed and transparent investigation into the plane crash that killed former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. He sat on a dharna after Mumbai Police allegedly refused to register a complaint regarding the incident.
Rohit Pawar said the investigation should be complete as soon as possible. He added that if any negligence or fault is found, an FIR must be filed immediately and strict action should be taken against those responsible. He stressed that the matter is not just about an accident but about finding the truth.
The protest drew hundreds of supporters and many lawyers to the police station area. Due to the large crowd, Baramati saw heavy political activity and tight security arrangements. Rohit Pawar said he would continue his protest until a fair and impartial investigation is conducted.
The tragic crash took place on January 28 at around 8:45 am at Baramati airport. A chartered plane flying from Mumbai to Baramati crashed during landing. Five people, including Ajit Pawar, lost their lives in the accident. The incident shocked the entire state and led to political tension.
So far, there has been no official statement from the police regarding the demand for an FIR. However, sources say that authorities may conduct a technical and administrative review of the crash. Aviation experts are also expected to examine possible reasons such as technical failure, weather conditions, or pilot error.
