The Rajasthan High Court has granted interim bail to Asaram, who is currently serving a life sentence in a rape case. The bail has been extended until June 30 to allow for ongoing medical treatment at a private hospital, as per reports.

Asaram's legal team had reportedly submitted a request to extend the interim bail, citing the need for continued medical care. Meanwhile, the survivor’s side requested the cancellation of the bail, raising concerns over its misuse.

During the hearing, the High Court's division bench extended the interim relief. The same matter was previously heard on April 2, when Justices Dinesh Mehta and Vineet Kumar Mathur had denied relief to Asaram.

The court reportedly also addressed reports of Asaram’s public sermons circulating on social media. These were seen as potential violations of bail conditions and previous Supreme Court directives. In response, the High Court asked Asaram’s lawyers to file an affidavit confirming that no such conditions had been breached.

Asaram's bail conditions include restrictions on holding gatherings, addressing followers, speaking to the media, and a requirement to bear the cost of three police personnel assigned to his security.

The case will remain under judicial review while Asaram continues to receive treatment.

Asaram has been found guilty in multiple cases which included a Jodhpur Case: In this case, he was arrested in 2013 and convicted in 2018 for the rape of a minor, receiving a life sentence.

In yet another Gandhinagar case, he was convicted on January 31, 2023, for raping a woman at an ashram in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and sentenced to life imprisonment.
