Air passenger files counter-complaint against Rameshwaram Café over false ₹25 lakh extortion claim

A case has been filed against the owner of Rameshwaram Café in Bengaluru after he allegedly accused a customer of extortion. The issue dates back to July 24, when traveller Nikhil, who was flying from Bengaluru to Guwahati, stopped at the café’s Terminal 1 outlet at the airport.
According to reports, Nikhil and his friend found an insect in their food and reported it to the outlet staff. The café reportedly offered to replace the order, but Nikhil declined as he had to board his flight.
Later, the café owner alleged that Nikhil had demanded ₹25 lakh as compensation and filed a complaint against him, accusing him of extortion. Unaware of this, Nikhil boarded his flight and only later found out that a complaint had been filed against him.
When CCTV footage and the boarding pass timings were verified, they showed that Nikhil was already on the flight at the time the café claimed he demanded money. Following this, Nikhil filed a counter-complaint and requested a detailed investigation.
Based on his complaint, BIAL Police Station (Bengaluru International Airport Police Station) registered an FIR on November 29 against café owners Raghavendra Rao, Divya Raghavendra Rao, and senior executive Sumanth Lakshminarayan.
