Ahmedabad crime branch, DRI seized drugs worth ₹160 cr

A total of ₹660 cr worth of drugs have been seized within 10 days of the operation

In another joint operation by the directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI) and Ahmedabad crime branch, 107 litres of liquid mephedrone worth ₹160 crore in the international market were seized on Oct 28.


Acting on a tip-off, the Ahmedabad crime branch and DRI initiated the operation at Apex Medicam company in Aurangabad, where they found liquid MD drugs (Mephedrone, also known as methylmethcathinone or ecstasy).

A preliminary investigation revealed that liquid MD drugs were being used in the manufacture of synthetic drugs and were being used illegally under the guise of manufacturing drugs.

Two arrested

The owner and manager of the company have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS). 

This operation was reportedly in continuation with the previous operation where the said teams seized narcotics and raw materials for their production, worth more than ₹500 cr from Mahalakshmi Industries in Aurangabad on Oct 20.

A total of ₹660 cr worth of drugs have been seized within 10 days of the operation.
