According to Ahmedabad Customs, the husband and wife arrived at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Kuwait Airways flight KU-347 from Kuwait.

The couple was intercepted after Customs officers developed intelligence through passenger profiling.

During examination, officers recovered gold bangles, chains and an anklet weighing 308.710 grams in total. The gold had a purity of 999.0, equivalent to 24 carat, and was valued at ₹46.98 lakh, Customs said.

The female passenger allegedly concealed the jewellery in her check-in baggage and hand purse. Officers also found gold concealed on her body beneath her garments.
