Two places of historic significance, Fatehabad and Badshahi Bagh in Agra, are likely to undergo a change in their names, pending approval from the state cabinet, as per reports.

The Fatehabad town and Badshahi Bagh could be renamed to Sindoorpuram and Brahmapuram respectively, after the district panchayat of Agra have cleared the proposal.

The proposal was put forward by district panchayat chairperson Manju Bhadoria, and was reportedly passed unanimously.

Located about 41 km east of Agra, Fatehabad holds deep historical significance. The town was established by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

Close to Fatehabad lies the village of Mohanpur, home to the remnants of the 17th-century Mughal-era Badshahi Bagh. This historic garden includes an elephant stable constructed by Aurangzeb in 1659 to commemorate his victory.

Nearby are other notable structures such as the Shahi Masjid and a royal tank known as Shahi Talaab, also attributed to Aurangzeb’s patronage. Despite its heritage value, the site remains largely overlooked and under preserved.
