Amid the cries of fuel shortage due to conflicts in the Middle East, Adani Total Gas Limited has increased the price of CNG in Ahmedabad by ₹1.50 per kg. With this hike, the retail price of CNG in the city has reached ₹83.77 per kg.

At the beginning of 2026, the company had provided some relief by reducing prices. However, within a short period, prices have been increased twice. Since February, the total increase has reached ₹2.00, which is higher than the relief given in January.

January 1, 2026: ₹1.21 decrease (relief)

February 7, 2026: ₹0.50 increase

April 2, 2026: ₹1.50 increase

The hike in CNG prices will directly impact the middle class and the transport sector. Auto-rickshaw drivers will see a rise in daily expenses, affecting their income, or they may be forced to increase fares, impacting common citizens. Taxi and cab operators are also likely to raise fares due to higher operational costs. Daily commuters using private vehicles will feel pressure on their monthly budgets.

Amid rising prices of essential commodities from April 1, this CNG price hike is expected to further strain Ahmedabad residents. There is a strong possibility of increased auto and taxi fares in the coming days. Currently, petrol and diesel prices are relatively stable due to the ongoing assembly elections, but experts believe a significant hike may follow once the elections conclude.
