Police have arrested a 26-year-old aspiring actress, her boyfriend and his associate on charges of murdering her live-in partner following an alleged alcohol-fuelled attack in north-west Bengaluru, as per reports.

The incident reportedly took place in Vijayalakshmi Layout in the Bagalagunte area, where the victim, 29-year-old Mohan Krishna, a pigmy collector and small-time financier, was allegedly stabbed to death on Saturday night.

The accused have been identified as Urvashi alias Bindu, 26, Krishna’s live-in partner; Vinay Kumar, 26, a truck driver; and Dhanush, 24, who is self-employed. All three are currently in police custody.

As per reports, Krishna and Bindu had rented a house in the locality around three months ago, claiming to be newly married. Police said both were married but separated from their respective spouses and had been in a relationship for nearly a year.

An investigating officer said Bindu claimed to have appeared in minor roles in Kannada films and television serials and had also worked as an assistant to directors of tele-serials.

Police reportedly said Bindu later developed a relationship with Vinay, who is unmarried and a resident of Bagalagunte. She reportedly informed Krishna of her intention to marry Vinay, which he strongly opposed. Frequent arguments over the issue reportedly alerted the landlord, Nataraj, to the fact that the pair were not legally married.

Investigators allege that Bindu and Vinay, determined to marry, conspired to eliminate Krishna and enlisted Dhanush in the plot. Dhanush, who had suffered financial losses in his hotel business, was allegedly promised money in return for his assistance.

According to police, the trio invited Krishna to a secluded location under the pretext of an alcohol party. After consuming several drinks, they allegedly gagged him, taped his mouth and stabbed him. The suspects are said to have fled the scene after ensuring he had died.

Further investigations are under way.
