Actor Celina Jaitly moves Delhi HC for support to her brother Retd Major Vikrant detained in UAE since 2024

Actor and former Miss India Celina Jaitley has approached the Delhi High Court, seeking urgent intervention for her brother, retired Major Vikrant Jaitley, who has been held in detention in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since September 2024.
The Bollywood star has also urged the Indian government, through the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), to provide her brother with adequate legal and medical support.
In a social media post, Jaitly wrote, “Justice Sachin Datta issued notice in my petition & directed the Government to file a status report. He also appointed a nodal officer for coordinating all assistance & facilitating contact in the matter of my brother Major (Retd) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, Veteran Indian Army, Infantry, 3 Para, Special Forces, who has been a victim of an enforced disappearance for 9 months followed by detainment.”
She also added, “Indian soldiers abroad continue to be targeted for reasons unknown, I pray to my government for their help & protection for our defenders.”
The matter is scheduled for its next hearing on December 4.
While Jaitly’s lawyer Raghav Kacker and Madhav Agarwal argued that her brother had been abducted and unlawfully detained in Abu Dhabi, the counsel for the Centre informed the court that Retd Major Vikrant had been provided consular access in the UAE.
Vikrant Jaitley has been living in the UAE since 2016, where he was reportedly working with a firm engaged in trading, consultancy, and risk management services. Despite his long residence and professional record, details about the reasons for his detention or the specific charges against him remain unclear.
