Accused who sent fake bomb threats to 11 states including Gujarat moves SC to club all FIRs

In the sensational case where an email threatening bomb blasts at public places, including schools and court complexes, was sent along with a claim of responsibility for the Ahmedabad plane crash, Chennai-based technician Reni Joshilda — who was arrested earlier — has now approached the Supreme Court.

She has filed a petition seeking to club together multiple FIRs registered against her and to conduct a single judicial proceeding in the matter.

SC issues notice to parties

A bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta heard the petition and issued notices to the concerned parties. The matter will be taken up for further hearing in the coming days. However, during the hearing, the Supreme Court refused to grant any interim relief to the petitioner.

Crimes registered in 11 states

Multiple complaints were filed against Reni Joshilda for sending threatening emails warning of bomb blasts at places like the Gujarat High Court and several schools.

FIRs have been lodged at Sola High Court Police Station, Sarkhej, and other police stations across Ahmedabad. Shockingly, similar offences have been registered against her not only in Gujarat but also in 11 states — including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, Telangana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana.

Act motivated by revenge after marriage refusal

In June, following a threat to blow up the Gujarat High Court, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested the 29-year-old robotics engineer, Reni Joshilda. Investigation revealed that she had committed the act to frame a man who had refused to marry her. Given the large number of FIRs filed against her across different states, she has now petitioned the Supreme Court to club all these cases together and conduct a consolidated judicial proceeding.
