80 schoolgirls in Jharkhand allegedly made to remove shirts as punishment, probe on

As many as 80 schoolgirls were allegedly ordered by their principal to remove shirts as a punishment for celebrating ‘pen day’ on the last day of the school.

Since it was the last day of the school, the girls had reportedly wrote farewell messages on others’ shirts. The principal, a woman, was not happy with this, and as a punishment, ordered the Class 10 students to remove their shirt, suggest the reports.

Following that, the girls had to go home only in their blazers, as per reports. Agitated parents and guardians then went to police to file a complaint.

According to reports, the police have filed a complaint and even talked to some of the girls regarding the incident. A probe has been launched.

However, the principal denied any such incident, and reportedly stated that she had only asked one girl to go in the ‘proper uniform’ and to not linger around.

The incident has garnered widespread criticism on social media, and strong demands of action against the principal have been made. An MLA from Jharkhand also reportedly described the incident as shameful and unfortunate, accompanying the parents to the DC’s office.
