5,053-Page Chargesheet Reveals Fake Instagram Account, ChatGPT Use and Lohagad Plot in the Ketan Agarwal Murder

A 5,053-page chargesheet filed by Pune Rural Police has detailed the alleged conspiracy behind realtor Ketan Agarwal’s death at Lohagad Fort, including a fake Instagram account and the use of ChatGPT.

The chargesheet, submitted before the Wadgaon Maval court on Saturday, names Agarwal’s fiancée Siya Goyal, her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary and Ritesh Hange as accused. Agarwal died after allegedly being pushed from Lohagad Fort on June 18.

5,053-Page Chargesheet Details Alleged Murder Plot

The extensive chargesheet contains messages, photographs, mobile phone data, call detail records, witness statements and technical analysis certificates, according to Pune Rural Police. It also includes statements from five eyewitnesses.

Police have alleged that the accused initially considered seriously injuring Agarwal and explored the possibility of hiring someone from outside Maharashtra. The plan was reportedly abandoned over concerns that the person could later expose the conspiracy.

The person contacted during this stage has since become a witness in the case, police said.

ChatGPT, Crime Films Used During Alleged Planning

According to the chargesheet, the accused later decided to carry out the killing themselves.

Investigators alleged that they watched murder films, searched online for information and used ChatGPT while planning the crime. They also listened to podcasts discussing ways of avoiding detection by police, according to the chargesheet.

The chargesheet also reportedly records online searches related to an earlier death at Lohagad. Police said the accused studied that incident because they believed Agarwal’s death could potentially be made to look like an accidental fall while taking a selfie.

Investigators also found searches relating to the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, a case that had received widespread attention in India.

Fake Instagram Account ‘Mahi’ Used To Lure Ketan

One of the key elements described in the chargesheet was a fake Instagram account named ‘Mahi’.

Police alleged that the account was created using a photograph of a woman known to the accused. Messages from the account were allegedly sent to Agarwal while posing as a friend of Siya Goyal.

The messages reportedly persuaded Agarwal to take Goyal to Lohagad on June 18 for what was presented as a surprise birthday plan. The account was allegedly deleted after the murder.

Police have alleged that Hange planned the fake-account operation, while Chaudhary entered Lohagad through an exit route and waited for the opportunity to join Goyal.

Earlier Attempt At Lohagad Alleged

The chargesheet also describes an alleged earlier attempt on June 14.

According to investigators, Goyal and Agarwal had visited Lohagad four days before his death. Police alleged that Goyal tried to push him from the cliff but Agarwal managed to hold on to a tree.

When questioned, she allegedly told him that she had seen a snake and had acted to protect him.

The chargesheet further alleges that the accused wanted the killing to take place before a planned trip to Bali.

Police said that during preparations for a pre-wedding photoshoot on June 6, Goyal allegedly tore Agarwal’s passport and discarded it at a café in Khalapur, preventing the trip from going ahead.

Why Lohagad Fort Was Chosen

Before settling on Lohagad, the accused allegedly surveyed several locations around Lonavala, including Tiger Point.

According to the chargesheet, Lohagad was eventually selected after the accused considered its terrain and an earlier death at the fort. Police alleged that they believed a fatal fall there could be portrayed as an accident.

The investigation therefore portrays the choice of location as part of the alleged planning rather than a spontaneous decision, though the allegations remain subject to judicial proceedings.

What Police Alleged Happened On June 18

On the day of the incident, police alleged that Chaudhary entered Lohagad through an exit route and later moved towards Agarwal and Goyal after receiving a signal.

According to the chargesheet, when Agarwal’s attention was diverted, Goyal allegedly pushed him from behind while Chaudhary pushed or kicked him, causing him to fall from the fort.

Agarwal died after the fall.

Digital Evidence Forms Major Part Of Case

The 5,053-page document includes a substantial body of digital and technical evidence, police said.

Investigators have cited WhatsApp and other messages, photographs, mobile phone data, call detail records and technical analysis along with witness statements. Deleted chats were also reportedly retrieved from electronic devices seized during the investigation.

The chargesheet is now before the Wadgaon Maval court, while the allegations against the three accused will be tested through the judicial process.

Three Accused Arrested

Siya Goyal, Chetan Chaudhary and Ritesh Hange were arrested in connection with Agarwal’s death and are currently in custody, according to reports.

The case began with Agarwal’s death at Lohagad Fort on June 18 and has since developed into an investigation centred on alleged pre-planning, digital communications, the fake ‘Mahi’ Instagram account and the circumstances surrounding his fatal fall.
