Uttarakhand landslide: pilgrims’ bodies to be brought to Ahmedabad

Five people, including four from Ahmedabad, lost their lives on their way to Kedarnath in a landslide near Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, on Aug 12. Out of the deceased, four were Ahmedabad residents, while the fifth was from Haridwar.
Local police found their car buried under the debris of a landslide, in which the five dead bodies were found. The incident took place in the Tarsali-Phata area of Rudraprayag district.
Bodies found in disfigured car in landslide debris
Rudraprayags’s district disaster management officer, Nandan Singh Rajwar, stated that when rescue operations resumed, a mangled car was found in the debris of the landslide, from which the dismembered remains of five people were recovered.
The five deceased were identified as Jigar R Modi, Mahesh Desai, and Divyansh Parikh from Ahmedabad, Manish Kumar from Gujarat. The earlier three are said to be from Maninagar while certain reports say that Kumar is from Mahemdavad. However, these are not confirmed reports. The fifth person has been identified as Mintu Kumar, a resident of Haridwar.
Bodies to be brought to Ahmedabad today
Maninagar MLA had reached out to the Uttarakhand govt with the help of the Gujarat govt and had made arrangements to bring the dead bodies to Gujarat by air or by other means. Their bodies will be brought to Ahmedabad today.
