3 Pakistani terrorists, two Pak-trained local guides executed deadly attack in Pahalgam
The attackers involved in the recent terror strike in Baisaran, near Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir, have been identified as key operatives of The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba group.
According to intelligence sources, the group included both Pakistani nationals and locally recruited militants.
Among the Pakistani operatives–
- Asif Fauji (code name: Moosa), is believed to be the leader of the group. Some reports suggest he may have been a Pakistani army personnel, which earned him the nickname 'Fauji'.
- Suleman Shah (code name: Yunus)
- Abu Talha (code name: Asif)
All three were also reportedly involved in the May 2024 attack on the Indian Air Force convoy in Poonch. Their digital footprints were traced to safe houses in Muzaffarabad and Karachi, further reinforcing their cross-border connections and Pakistan's complicity.
Local collaborators played a key role in aiding the attackers
According to some reports, Adil Guri, a resident of Bijbehara in Anantnag, had travelled to Pakistan in 2018 for training. After returning, he kept a low profile but was believed to have been instrumental in planning the attack.
He provided the Pakistani terrorists with detailed knowledge of the Baisaran area, helped them remain hidden, and assisted in finalising the operation’s timing and escape route.
Ahsan, from Pulwama, also travelled to Pakistan in 2018 and was involved in the operation.
On Tuesday, dressed in camouflage uniforms with kurtas and pajamas, the terrorists reportedly emerged from the dense pine forests surrounding the Baisaran meadow, and killed 28 people, most of them tourists.
