21-year-old dies after drinking 5 bottles of liquor for ₹10,000 bet

Karthik, a 21-year-old resident of Mulbagal in Karnataka’s Kolar district, died after allegedly consuming five bottles of undiluted liquor as part of a ₹10,000 bet with friends, as per reports. The incident reportedly occurred just days after he became a father. 

According to police reports, Karthik claimed he could drink five full bottles of liquor without any dilution. He attempted the challenge in front of six friends. Soon after consuming the liquor, Karthik became critically ill and was rushed to a hospital in Mulbagal, where he later succumbed during treatment.

A case has been registered at the Nangli Police Station against all six individuals present. Two of them, Venkata Reddy and Subramani have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining accused.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), nearly 2.6 million people die each year due to alcohol-related causes, accounting for 4.7% of global deaths.
