14 Maoists killed in encounter at Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, op underway

At least 14 Maoists were killed during an anti-maoist operation along the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border in Gariaband district, according to reports. Initially, the police had reported two fatalities on Monday, but the figure was revised after additional bodies were recovered following the operation.
“A joint inter-state operation was launched by Odisha and Chhattisgarh police and CRPF personnel in the border areas of Nuapada district of Odisha and Gariabandh district of Chhattisgarh on the night of January 19,” said Chhatisgarh Police.
Two Maoist Cadres (women) were neutralised in the operation on Monday. Large quantities of firearms, ammunition and IEDs including 1 SLR were recovered by the security forces.
In the ongoing operation, 12 More Maoists were killed late at night and early morning on Tuesday with the SOG Team. The number of Maoist casualties may increase, suggested the state police press release. Arms and ammunition have been seized in massive amounts.
A massive search operation is underway by the police in the area.
In the year 2024, 6 Maoists were killed, 8 were arrested and 24 Maoists have surrendered.
In 2025, to date, 14 Maoists have been killed in Joint Interstate operations with Chhattisgarh Police and CAPF.
