Wife kills lover with husband’s help in Maharashtra, stuffs body in drum, dumps it in drain

A woman allegedly killed her lover with the help of her husband, brother, and his friend, then stuffed the body into a drum and dumped it in a nearby drain, as per a report from Maharashtra. Initially, she denied her involvement in the murder, but after constant questioning by police, she reportedly confessed to the crime.
The victim, Arbaz Maqsood Ali Khan, a 26-year-old engineer from Mumbra in Thane had left home for work in Dadar on April 3, but never returned.
After he did not return home, his father filed a missing complaint at the Mumbra Police Station. The police started the investigation, analysed Khan’s call records and mobile location data which matched his girlfriend Mehajabeen Khatun Ekran Sheikh at Vasai on the day he disappeared, the reports suggested.
During the investigation, the police reportedly found that Khan had been in a relationship with a 25-year-old married woman Mehajabeen since 2021 and who is a resident of Vasai. The police also claimed that as the relationship grew, Mehajabeen began demanding money from Khan, which he regularly transferred to her bank account over the years.
The police also claimed that the day before Khan went missing, he transferred ₹50,000 to Mehajabeen.
Police reportedly said that the relationship soured between them after Khan allegedly stopped sending Mehajabeen money every month, prompting her to allegedly plot his murder with her husband Hasan Sheikh, brother Tariq Sheikh and his friend Mojjam Pathan. They first tied Khan’s hands, then beat him with a plastic pipe and killed him. Later, they stuffed his body in a green drum and dumped it into a drain in the Mumbra area, as per reports.
Initially, Mehajabeen refused her involvement in the murder, but after constant questioning she confessed to her crime. Thereafter, police arrested her and husband Tariq on May 7, while Hasan and Mojjam remain absconding.
