Uber driver, two others booked for allegedly harassing woman pilot during cab-ride in Mumbai
A case have been registered against an Uber driver and two others for the alleged sexual harassment of a 28-year-old woman pilot during a ride in Mumbai, according to reports.
The incident reportedly occurred around 11.15 pm on Thursday, when the woman was returning to her residence in Ghatkopar from South Mumbai, as per reports.
The woman reportedly informed the police that her husband is a Navy officer, but since he has not yet been allotted government accommodation, he stays at a Navy residential complex, while she lives separately in Ghatkopar.
As per the complaint, the woman stated that the Uber driver rerouted the cab, and about 25 minutes into the journey, he allowed two unknown men to board the vehicle.
She further reportedly alleged that one of the men seated in the backseat attempted to touch her inappropriately. When she yelled at him, the man allegedly threatened her, while the cab driver did not intervene.
As the cab neared an area where police checking was taking place, the two men got out of the vehicle. The driver then dropped her home, but when she confronted him, he gave no explanation and fled the scene.
The pilot later shared her ordeal with her husband, who subsequently filed a complaint at the Ghatkopar Police Station.
