Teen kills rickshaw driver over seat dispute in Mumbai

A shocking incident took place in Mumbai’s Kurla area, where a small argument over sitting in an auto-rickshaw turned into a tragic murder, as per reports. A 17-year-old boy allegedly stabbed a 48-year-old rickshaw driver to death after being denied a seat.
The incident happened on Monday night around 9 pm in New Railway Colony, Kurla (East). The victim, identified as Jayaraj Jaypal Naidu, had reportedly refused to let the teenager sit in his auto. This led to a sudden and violent reaction from the minor.
According to reports, the teenager, in anger, took out a sharp knife and stabbed Naidu on the left side of his neck. Locals quickly informed the police and tried to help by rushing him to medical treatment, but he died before reaching the hospital.
The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack, which created panic in the area. Police from Nehru Nagar station reached the spot soon after and began their investigation. The victim’s son later filed a complaint, after which a murder case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The minor was soon traced and taken into custody. As per legal procedure, he was presented before the Juvenile Justice Board and has been sent to a children’s home.
Police are now recording statements from witnesses to understand the full sequence of events.
