Porsche crashes at 150 kmph speed during alleged street race with BMW in Mumbai, driver injured

A high-speed crash involving a luxury Porsche car on Mumbai’s Western Express Highway has sparked concerns over illegal street racing once again. The incident occurred late Wednesday night near Jogeshwari, when the vehicle reportedly lost control and smashed into a road divider.
According to reports, the Porsche and a BMW were allegedly racing when the Porsche driver at the speed of 150 kmph (kilometres per hour) lost control of the speeding car and hit the divider. The impact left the vehicle mangled, while the driver sustained serious injuries. Police confirmed that three friends were inside the car at the time of the accident.
Authorities, however, stated that the incident does not appear to be a case of drunk driving. Initial reports suggest overspeeding. The investigation is ongoing, as per a police officer.
Eyewitnesses at the scene alleged the crash occurred due to a street race between the Porsche and the BMW, though police have not yet verified this version. Both cars were moving at extremely high speed. Moments later, the Porsche hit the divider and was completely wrecked, one witness at the scene said.
Police have seized both cars for forensic examination and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to determine whether a street race was indeed taking place before the crash.
