Orange alert in Mumbai, Thane as heavy rains lash parts of city
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and a red alert for Raigad on Monday.
“Extremely heavy rainfall is likely over Konkan/Goa, central Maharashtra on Monday,” said IMD.
As per reports, many parts of Mumbai got over 100 mm rainfall on Monday. Andheri, Versova, Vile Parle, Khar, Santacruz, Juhu, Bandra, Powai, and BKC are likely to receive severe rainfall.
IMD took to X, “Moderate spell of rainfall with occasional intense rainfall likely to continue over mumbai and suburban during next 3 hours”.
On Monday morning, Indigo Airlines issued a travel advisory, “There’s a heavy downpour over #Mumbai at the moment, causing some temporary disruption to flight schedules.”
“If you’re travelling today, please be aware of potential delays and allow additional time for your journey, especially with traffic moving slower than usual,” the airlines said.
As per reports, on Monday morning many parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Pune and Navi Mumbai, received heavy to light rainfall. Many areas were waterlogged and traffic jams were witnessed at places.
