Nashik techies alleges colleagues of harassment, six arrested

Six people, including a team leader, have been arrested after women employees at a multi-national company in Maharashtra’s Nashik alleged sexual harassment, as per reports.

The alleged incidents of harassment occurred over a span of four years, police said on Wednesday.

Authorities have reportedly registered nine cases against the accused, invoking charges of sexual harassment and offending religious sentiments.

According to the reports, one of the accused repeatedly engaged in a physical relationship with a female colleague under the false promise of marriage.

He is also accused of inappropriate physical contact and making derogatory remarks about her personal and married life. Despite the complainant raising verbal complaints with the company’s senior official, no action was taken.

Instead, the official allegedly ignored the allegations and indirectly supported the accused, police said in a statement.

The accused also reportedly made obscene comments about the woman’s physical appearance.

Five of the accused were arrested on Tuesday and produced before a local court the following day. They have been remanded to police custody until April 10, while another accused is currently in judicial custody.
