Security was tightened at the Taj Mahal Palace and Trident Nariman Point hotels in south Mumbai after both properties received a threat call warning of a possible terror attack on Wednesday.

According to police officials, the caller claimed that attacks would take place at the two luxury hotels, prompting an immediate security response.

Following the alert, police and security personnel were deployed at both locations, while teams conducted extensive checks in and around the hotel premises.

Investigators later traced the call to the Sion area of Mumbai, where a suspect was detained for questioning.

Police said an investigation is under way to determine the motive behind the threat call and whether it was intended as a hoax.

This is a developing story.
