British broadcast engineer working on IPL found dead in Mumbai hotel

A 76-year-old British broadcast engineer associated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) was reportedly found dead in a hotel room in south Mumbai.

The deceased, Jan William Langford, was discovered unconscious in his room on Monday morning. Hotel staff rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival, an official said.

Langford had been in India on assignment as a broadcast engineer for the IPL 2026 season.

According to police, a post-mortem examination did not indicate any foul play. 

Officials from the Marine Drive Police Station said an accidental death case has been registered, and further inquiries are underway to ascertain the exact cause.
