Amit Thackeray Backs Cousin Aaditya in Disha Salian Case as CBI Probe Begins

MNS leader Amit Thackeray on Friday defended his cousin and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray in the Disha Salian death case. Amit reportedly said Aaditya could never be involved in such a case. His statement came after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR following directions from the Bombay High Court. 

Amit backs his cousin

Amit Thackeray reportedly said he was unable to understand the situation but, as Aaditya's brother, he believed that Aaditya could never be involved in Disha Salian's death. Amit is the son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray.

Aaditya Thackeray has also denied any connection with Salian. After the CBI registered the FIR, he reportedly said he had never met or known her. He also alleged that political opponents were linking his name to the case to damage his reputation.

CBI starts fresh probe

Disha Salian, a former manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 12th floor of a building in Mumbai's Malad area. Mumbai Police had initially registered an accidental death report and later said that its inquiry concluded she died by suicide.

The Bombay High Court on September 2 reportedly ordered a CBI probe into Salian's death and criticised the Mumbai Police for not registering an FIR for six years. The CBI has now registered an FIR as part of the fresh investigation, without naming any accused in the FIR.

Salian's death happened six days before Sushant Singh Rajput was reportedly found dead at his Bandra home on June 14, 2020. The timing led to speculation about a possible connection between the two deaths. The fresh CBI investigation is now looking into the circumstances surrounding Salian's death following the High Court's order.
