30-day traffic block announced for Kandivali–Borivali railway track work from December 20

Western Railway has issued a traffic work order announcing a 30-day block for the construction of the 6th railway line between Kandivali and Borivali stations. The block will be in effect from December 20, 2025, and is expected to impact the movement of several local and long-distance trains.
According to Western Railway, the work is being undertaken to enhance line capacity and improve suburban rail operations on one of Mumbai’s busiest sections. During the block period, multiple operational changes will be implemented to facilitate the infrastructure upgrade.
Railway officials said that some trains will be short terminated or short originated, while others may be regulated or rescheduled. In addition, a number of mail, express and passenger trains will skip their scheduled halt at Borivali station during the block period, which could lead to delays and inconvenience for commuters.
Passengers have been advised to check updated train schedules before commencing their journeys and to stay informed through official railway announcements.
