25-year-old arrested from Mumbai airport for smoking in flight lavatory

A 25-year-old passenger was arrested at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Saturday for smoking in the lavatory of a flight, causing panic among fellow passengers, as per reports.
The incident reportedly took place on the Phuket-Mumbai flight on Friday, as smoke was seen coming from the aircraft’s lavatory, the passengers on board were alarmed.
The man, identified as Bhavya Gautam Jain, a resident of South Mumbai, allegedly lit a cigarette inside the plane’s lavatory, as per officials.
Following the flight’s arrival in Mumbai, Jain was taken into custody and arrested under relevant provisions of the Aircraft Act, police reported.
Notably, as per the India’s aviation rules, smoking is strictly prohibited on all passenger flights.
