The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a licensed surveyor attached to the District Inspector of Land Records (DILR) office in Mehsana while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹70,000 from a complainant for carrying out land measurement and submitting survey documents.

The accused has been identified as Ashish Kumar Bhikhabhai Parmar (27), a licensed surveyor with the DILR office in Mehsana district.

According to the ACB, the complainant, had applied to the DILR office for the measurement and partition correction of land in Suraj village of Becharaji taluka, Mehsana district.

During the course of the proceedings, Parmar allegedly contacted the complainant and demanded a bribe of ₹1.90 lakh for conducting the land survey and submitting the necessary survey sheets. The accused allegedly instructed the complainant to pay ₹70,000 as the first instalment of the demanded amount.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the Gandhinagar ACB Police Station and lodged a complaint.

Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap on June 25 near Jai Ambe Nasta House, located outside Gate No. 4 of the Mehsana Sessions Court.

During the trap proceedings, the accused allegedly reiterated his demand for the bribe and accepted ₹70,000 from the complainant. The ACB team immediately apprehended him and recovered the entire tainted amount.

The ACB alleged that Parmar abused his position as a public servant by demanding and accepting illegal gratification in exchange for performing official duties, thereby committing criminal misconduct.

Further investigation is underway.
