₹80,000 To Settle Police Complaint: Constable Caught in Kadi

A Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team has arrested an unarmed police constable attached to Kadi Police Station in Mehsana district for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹80,000 to settle a police complaint registered against a complainant and his brothers.

The accused has been identified as Amin Hussain Manjur Hussain Sheikh, a Class-III unarmed police constable posted at Kadi Police Station in Mehsana district.

Complaint registered in Langhnaj Police Station, Mehsana

According to the ACB, a complaint had been registered against the complainant and his brothers at Langhnaj Police Station. The accused constable allegedly demanded ₹2 lakh to resolve the matter and facilitate a favourable outcome in the case.

Following negotiations, the alleged demand was reduced to ₹80,000. As the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he approached the Gandhinagar unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and lodged a complaint.

Based on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap on July 9 on the public road leading between Irana and Kadi. During the operation, the accused was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting ₹80,000 from the complainant.

The ACB recovered the entire amount of ₹80,000 from the accused and registered a case against him for allegedly abusing his position as a public servant and engaging in corrupt practices.

The trap was carried out under the supervision of DA Chaudhary, Police Inspector of the Gandhinagar ACB Police Station, along with the Gandhinagar ACB team.

The operation was supervised by Assistant Director AK Parmar of the Gandhinagar ACB unit, while Deputy Director Haresh Mewada of the Ahmedabad ACB served as the officer in charge.
