Rare viewing of fine embroideries in Ahmedabad

Well-known hand embroidery expert Asif's 'The Last of a Line', a collection of the finest embroideries from his personal archives spanning over three decades, will be hosted by Ishita Parikh at the Bougainvillea Gallery in Ahmedabad.
Born in Ahmedabad, Asif is internationally acclaimed for the fineness and innovation of his craft.
Asif established his eponymous studio in 2002, working alongside his team of artisans to advance Indian embroidery traditions through reinvention and experimentation. Over the past decade, his innovations in embroidery have propelled the city onto the global map.
The works may resemble paintings at a glance, yet in place of brushstrokes the motifs are formed by thousands of individual stitches, each guided by a precise hand.
'The Last of a Line' presents an oeuvre of ari, zardozi, micro-miniatures, pashmina-on-pashmina, beetle wings and precious stones embroidered with real gold plated thread.
The collection is on display at Bougainvillea Gallery, A2 Vaibhav Apartments, Gulbai Tekra, Ahmedabad from January 24, 11am to 4pm and January 25, 11am to 7pm.
