Bhuj Revenue Talati Caught Accepting ₹35,000 Bribe in ACB Trap

The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday caught a Revenue Talati posted at the Bhuj Mamlatdar's office while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹35,000 from a complainant for issuing a farmer status certificate, officials said.

The accused has been identified as Chandubhai Gelabhai Haran (34), a Revenue Talati (Class III) posted at the Bhuj (City) Mamlatdar's office in Kutch district.

According to the ACB, the complainant had sold ancestral agricultural land in Bhuj through a registered sale deed on March 27, 2026. As no other agricultural land remained in the complainant's name, he applied for a farmer status certificate to retain his status as an agriculturist.

Accused demanded bribe

The accused allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹40,000 to process the certificate. Following negotiations, the amount was allegedly reduced to ₹35,000.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB, which laid a trap.

During the operation, the accused allegedly reiterated the demand, accepted ₹35,000 from the complainant and was caught red-handed. The entire bribe amount was recovered by the ACB.

The trap was conducted at the Prant and Mamlatdar Office in Bhuj under the supervision of Police Inspector J.J. Chaudhary of the Bhuj ACB Police Station.

Assistant Director K.H. Gohil of the ACB Border Unit, Bhuj, supervised the operation, while Deputy Director Baldevsinh Vaghela of the ACB Rajkot was the officer in charge.

Further investigation is underway.
