The CID Crime’s Gandhinagar unit has uncovered an alleged illegal LPG refilling operation at a residential premises in Hariyala village of Kheda district, seizing 84 domestic and commercial gas cylinders along with equipment and two goods vehicles worth a total of ₹6.61 lakh.

The operation allegedly involved transferring gas from filled Bharat Gas cylinders into empty cylinders using a motor and pipes, without the required permits or fire-safety certification, according to a police complaint.

The complaint was lodged by a CID Crime officer on October 21 against Chelabhai Ranabhai Bharwad, 40, a resident of Hariyala village, and Vishnubhai Paragbhai Parmar, 32, who lives in Rajiv Nagar behind Narol Court in Ahmedabad.

Gas Allegedly Transferred Through Motor And Pipes

According to the complaint, the CID Crime team received information that LPG was being illegally transferred from filled Bharat Gas cylinders into empty cylinders of different sizes at Bharwad’s residence.

During the search, the team allegedly found cylinders stored in an Atul tempo, a Chhota Hathi goods vehicle and a shed covered with cement sheets. A motor connected to pipes and an electronic weighing scale were also found at the premises.

During questioning, Bharwad allegedly told the police that he worked as a delivery contractor associated with gas agencies in Kheda. Parmar reportedly said he worked as a delivery worker and brought cylinders to the premises.

The complaint alleges that gas from filled cylinders was transferred through pipes connected to a motor to refill empty cylinders. The cylinders were then weighed, sealed and allegedly sold at different locations.

No Required Permits Or Fire-Safety Certificate

A supply officer from Kheda, identified in the complaint as N D Modi, was called to the site.

The officer reportedly found that the accused did not possess the required permits to refill or store cooking-gas cylinders. They also allegedly lacked a fire-safety certificate.

The complaint states that the operation was being carried out for financial gain and that the absence of adequate safety arrangements exposed people to the risk of fire or an explosion.
