Four Killed as Car Carrying Family for Ash Immersion Crashes into Parked Truck Near Junagadh

Four members of a family from Banaskantha district were killed and four others injured after the car they were travelling in rammed into a parked truck near Majewadi village in Junagadh district on Friday morning while on their way to Somnath to immerse the ashes of a deceased relative.

The accident occurred on the four-lane highway near Majewadi when the speeding car crashed into the rear of a truck parked on the roadside, police said.

The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the front portion of the car completely mangled and trapping the occupants inside the vehicle. Four passengers died on the spot, while the remaining four sustained serious injuries.

Family Was Travelling to Somnath for Ash Immersion

According to preliminary information, the family had left Banaskantha district early in the day to travel to Somnath for the immersion of a relative's ashes when tragedy struck near Junagadh.

The incident led to traffic disruption on the highway as local residents rushed to assist the victims and alert emergency services.

Injured Shifted to Junagadh Civil Hospital

Police teams and 108 ambulance personnel reached the spot shortly after receiving information about the accident and launched rescue operations.

The injured were shifted to Junagadh Civil Hospital for treatment. Hospital authorities said two of the injured were in critical condition and had been admitted to the intensive care unit.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.

Investigation Under way

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash, including whether the parked truck was stationed in accordance with traffic safety norms.

Authorities are also working to ascertain the identities of the deceased and inform relatives.
