Migrant Worker Found Dead in Jamnagar Transit Camp Building

A 21-year-old migrant worker from Bihar allegedly died by suicide inside an unoccupied room near a transit camp on the outskirts of Kanalu village in Gujarat's Jamnagar district.

The deceased has been identified as Ritik Kumar Subhash Mandal, who had relocated from his home state of Bihar to find employment opportunities in Gujarat and was currently working as a daily-wage labourer in Kanalu village, situated within Lalpur taluka.

According to official details, the tragic incident unfolded on August 17 when Mandal walked into an empty room situated adjacent to the transit camp outside LC-8 on the village outskirts sometime before 9.15 am. Once inside the isolated structure, he tied a length of cloth to an iron angle overhead and hanged himself.

Police Reach Spot After Alert

Word of the incident spread quickly around the transit camp area, prompting immediate notification to local law enforcement authorities. Upon receiving the news, an operational team from the Meghpar police station rushed directly to the spot on the outskirts of Kanalu village.

The arriving officers secured the immediate perimeter around the empty room, examined the scene to gather initial physical observations, and took charge of the body to initiate the mandatory legal and administrative procedures required in such cases.

Case Registered Under BNSS

Official documentation and preliminary registration were initiated shortly after police arrived at the site. Based on information and statement details formally furnished by Rajukumar Indal Pandey, the Meghpar (Padana) police station officially registered a case of accidental death.

The case has been filed under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which governs the official procedure for police inquiries into suicides and accidental deaths to ensure all legal formalities are systematically observed.

Probe Underway to Find Cause

Despite the initial site inspection and gathering of preliminary statements, authorities confirm that the specific circumstances or underlying reasons that compelled the young migrant worker to take his own life remain entirely unknown.

Meghpar police officers are continuing their investigation into the matter, gathering further details surrounding Mandal's final hours, contacting associated acquaintances, and taking further required statutory actions to complete the inquest.
