Jamnagar Roof Collapse Traps Family of Three; Fire Brigade Pulls All Out Alive

A potentially fatal accident was averted in Jamnagar on Thursday after the roof of an ageing house collapsed in Rangamati Park, trapping three members of a family beneath the debris. Fire brigade personnel launched a swift rescue operation and pulled all three out alive before shifting them to GG Hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred at around 4 pm in Sheri No. 2 of Rangamati Park, near Raj Park, where Pratapgiri Gosai (61), his wife Doliben Gosai (54) and their son Sagar Gosai (27) were inside their 40 to 45-year-old house when the roof suddenly caved in.

Firefighters Rush to Scene After Emergency Alert

According to officials, a large portion of the roof fell directly on Pratapgiri Gosai, leaving him trapped beneath the rubble.

Sureshbhai Chudasama, a retired fire brigade employee residing nearby, immediately alerted the fire brigade and the 108 emergency service after witnessing the collapse.

Within minutes, a rescue team led by Fire Officer Jasminben Bhensdariya, along with Umesh Gameti and more than five firefighters, reached the spot with specialised rescue equipment. After removing the debris, the team successfully rescued Pratapgiri Gosai alive.

Three Injured Shifted to GG Hospital

The injured family members received first aid from the 108 ambulance team before being taken to GG Hospital for further treatment.

Hospital sources said Doliben Gosai sustained a head injury, while Pratapgiri Gosai and Sagar Gosai suffered multiple injuries. All three are undergoing treatment.

Locals Credit Swift Response for Saving Lives

The collapse triggered panic in the neighbourhood as residents gathered at the site.

Locals said the rapid response by the fire brigade and emergency medical teams prevented the incident from turning into a major tragedy, particularly as one of the victims remained buried under the debris until rescuers cleared the collapsed roof.
