Child Dies In Jamnagar During Treatment Despite Negative Chandipura Test

Jamnagar, August 21: A child from the Kansumara area on the outskirts of Jamnagar, who was admitted to government GG Hospital with suspected symptoms of Chandipura virus infection, died during treatment despite testing negative for the infection.

Child admitted with suspected Chandipura symptoms

The child was admitted to GG Hospital a few days ago after developing symptoms suspected to be linked to Chandipura virus infection. As doctors suspected the infection, samples were collected and sent for testing.

The test report later came back negative. However, the child died during treatment on Thursday.

Another suspected case admitted to GG Hospital

Meanwhile, suspected Chandipura cases continue to be reported in Jamnagar and surrounding areas. On Thursday, another child from the Porbandar region was admitted to government GG Hospital in Jamnagar with suspected symptoms of Chandipura infection.

At present, one suspected child patient is undergoing treatment at GG Hospital.

More than a dozen suspected cases reported

Over the past few weeks, more than a dozen suspected Chandipura cases have been reported in Jamnagar and surrounding areas.

However, a suspected case cannot be confirmed as Chandipura infection until the test reports of samples collected from the patient are received.
