Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Monday that he has proposed First Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko to become the country’s new prime minister.

In a post on X, Zelenskyy stated that he held a meeting with Svyrydenko to discuss plans to boost Ukraine’s economic potential, expand support programmes for citizens, and scale up domestic weapons production. As part of this effort, he said, Ukraine would initiate a transformation of the executive branch.

“I have proposed that Yuliia Svyrydenko lead the Government of Ukraine and significantly renew its work. I look forward to the presentation of the new Government’s action plan in the near future,” Zelenskyy said.

He added that a report was delivered on the implementation of agreements made with European and American partners during the recent Ukraine Recovery Conference, noting the need to swiftly implement measures to strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s state and society.
