‘You’d be speaking French, if Britain wasn't there’ King Charles roasts Trump

During White House dinner on Tuesday, Britain’s King Charles III roasted the US President Donald Trump by reminding a history lesson, suggesting that without British intervention in North America, Americans would have been speaking French.
Marking 250 years of American Independence, King Charles III reached America for his four day visit with the purpose to make steady relations in geopolitical dynamics between countries..
The exchange unfolded as the two leaders struck a warm tone on the, despite underlying tensions over the war in Iran. The British monarch used the moment to refer to Trump’s earlier remarks on European allies and defence spending. After saying this, King Charles reportedly said, “Dare I say that if it wasn't for us, you'd be speaking French,” King Charles said. His comment draws laughter from the audience.
He reportedly referred to the colonial- era rivalry between Britain and France in North America, long before US independence, at that time when these two powers battled for territorial dominance across the continent.
Before the dinner, King Charles addressed a joint meeting of the Congress, which reportedly called a stand-up-style address with reflections on the British-American relationship. He also said that the US and UK are divided into two nations by a common language.
