US, Russia to hold talks on power plants, land in ceasefire negotiations: Reports
US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will reportedly hold talks on the Ukraine ceasefire on Tuesday.
Trump told the media that he had worked and discussed the matter extensively over the weekend and that he would now be holding talks with Putin on Tuesday.
Ukraine has already accepted the 30-day ceasefire agreement, while Trump is now planning to secure Putin’s agreement for the same.
The Ukrainian delegation included President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and others. Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and National Security Advisor Musaed bin Muhammad Al-Aiban also took part in the discussions and agreed to the decision.
At a press conference following the talks, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed hope that Russia would accept the proposal for a temporary ceasefire with Ukraine.
Trump also told the media that he would be discussing land and power plants with Putin.
Earlier on Friday, Trump had said that he had appealed to Russia's President Vladimir Putin that the lives of thousands of Ukrainian troops "completely surrounded" by the Russian military be "spared".
Trump wrote on Truth Social, his social media platform, that he made this appeal on a phone call with Putin on Thursday, which he described as "good and productive".
Trump did not specify, but he was referring to the Russian military's advance on a Russian territory in the Kursk region which had been seized by Ukraine.
