The ruling Republican party in the United States of America has reportedly postponed the voting in the House of Representatives (Congress) on the ‘war-powers resolution’, citing the absence of several party members. The Democrats had introduced this resolution earlier in the Senate that could limit President Donald Trump's war powers to take military action against Iran without congressional approval, as per reports.

The United States Senate on Tuesday reportedly approved a procedural vote on a ‘war-powers resolution’ aimed at ending the conflict and limiting President Trump's powers regarding military action against Iran, marking a move after US and Israeli forces launched strikes on February 28.

The resolution got approval in the Senate in a 50-47 vote, with four Republican senators joining Democrats in support of the resolution, report cites.

Meanwhile, New York’s Democratic Representative Gregory Meek, has introduced the resolution in the House of Representative, who is also the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, as per reports.

However, Republican leaders later delayed the voting on the measure introduced in Congress, citing the absence of several party members and insisting that it would be considered only when all members were present. It is also being reported that the party was concerned about possible cross-voting after seeing four party members voted in support of the resolution in the Senate.

Following the delay, it is reportedly expected that the voting is now taking place in early June after the chamber returns from its Memorial Day recess.
