In a significant move aimed at streamlining passport services, the US Department of State (DoS) has officially launched its new online passport renewal system.
This initiative allows US citizens to renew their passports digitally, eliminating the need to print and mail paper applications.
The new system is designed to save both time and effort, providing a more convenient and efficient process for passport renewal.
The new online platform is part of a broader effort by the US agencies to “embrace digital transformation to offer the most efficient and convenient passport renewal experience possible,” as per an official statement released by the department.
Attributed to the recent improvements in staffing and technology, the department states that it has significantly reduced processing times. Routine passport renewals are now being completed in roughly one-third of the time it took last summer, well under the advertised six-to-eight-week timeframe, reads the statement.
