US mass shooting: Louisiana man kills 8 children including 7 of his own ​

In a tragic and shocking incident that took place in USA’s Shreveport on Sunday morning, a man shot and killed eight children, including seven of his own, as per reports. Police said this is the deadliest mass shooting in the country since January 2024.

The accused is reportedly identified as Sharmar Elkins (31), who first shot his wife, who is the mother of his children, who suffered serious injuries. After that, he went to another house and shot eight children and another woman, who is in critical condition.

The victims included three boys and five girls aged between 3 and 11. Seven of them were siblings and one was their cousin. A 13-year-old boy managed to escape by jumping from the roof while the shooting was happening. He got some broken bones but is expected to recover, stated the reports. ​

Police reportedly said the case appears to be “domestic in nature.” The shooting happened across three houses in the same area. Officials described the scene as very horrific, with multiple children found dead.  

Reports stated that accused has a criminal history where he was arrested in 2019. He was reportedly shot dead by the police while trying to flee in a car after the shooting.
