The US military announced on Thursday that it conducted an airstrike in northwest Syria on Thursday, eliminating Muhammad Salah al-Zabir, a senior figure associated with an Al-Qaeda-linked militant group.
In a statement released by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) highlighted that the strike was part of continuous efforts to weaken and disrupt militant activities in the region.
Al-Zabir was identified as a member of the Hurras al-Din organisation.
It further added that the airstrike is part of its ongoing commitment, along with partners in the region, to disrupt and degrade efforts by terrorists to plan, organize, and conduct attacks against civilians and military personnel from the US, our allies, and our partners throughout the region and beyond.
“CENTCOM will continue to hunt and kill or capture terrorists, and defend our homeland, against groups that plot to attack US and allied personnel,” said Gen Michael Erik Kurilla, commander, US Central Command.
