UK heir of ₹2500 cr company sentenced to life in jail for stabbing friend to death

A Welsh pie company heir linked to a fortune worth $292 million (₹2500 cr) has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of his childhood friend in Cardiff, Wales.
As per reports, Dylan Thomas, 24, the grandson of Stanley Thomas, founder of Peter’s Pie Services, was found guilty of fatally stabbing his friend, William Bush, nearly 40 times on Christmas Eve in 2023. The horrifying incident took place in their shared home in Cardiff’s Llandaff area.
The day before the murder, Thomas spent time with his family in Rhoose, Wales, staying overnight at his grandmother’s house. On December 24, he persuaded her to drive him back to Cardiff, claiming he needed to check on his dog. During the trip, which was about 20 kilometers, Thomas displayed increasing signs of agitation, according to his grandmother.
Upon reaching their home in Llandaff, Thomas slipped in unnoticed, armed himself with a large kitchen knife and a pocket knife, and launched a calculated attack on Bush in his bedroom. Prosecutors described the incident as a premeditated ambush, noting that Thomas had deliberately prepared for the assault.
After the murder, Thomas, drenched in blood, fled to his grandmother’s car and banged on the windows in distress. He called emergency services on 999, falsely claiming that Bush had attacked himself. However, police investigations quickly debunked his story, and the attack was deemed as murder.
Thomas was sentenced to life imprisonment and must serve at least 19 years before being eligible for parole.
