Trump’s signature to feature on US currency in historic first

In a historic move tied to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, the administration of Donald J Trump has announced that his signature will appear on future US paper currency marking the first time a sitting president’s signature will be featured on dollar bills.
The US Treasury said the move is part of commemorations for the country’s Semiquincentennial celebrations. The president’s signature will appear alongside that of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on newly issued notes.
Announcing the decision, Bessent said the step reflects what he described as a period of “unprecedented economic growth and fiscal strength” under Trump’s leadership. He added that featuring the president’s signature on currency is a symbolic recognition of both the nation’s 250-year milestone and Trump’s economic policies.
US Treasurer Brandon Beach also backed the move, calling it a tribute to what he termed America’s “Golden Age economic revival.” He said the redesigned currency would stand as a symbol of national strength and prosperity.
The decision breaks with long-standing tradition, as US currency has historically carried only the signatures of the Treasury Secretary and the Treasurer, not the sitting president.
The rollout timeline for the new currency notes has not yet been detailed, but officials indicated they will be issued as part of the anniversary celebrations.
