Trump to chair White House meet on Gaza war, US pushes for resolution by 2025

US President Donald Trump will chair a high-level meeting at the White House on Wednesday to discuss strategies aimed at ending the ongoing war in Gaza, as per reports.

The session is expected to focus on deciding a plan as USA is likely to push for a resolution before the end of 2025.

US special envoy Steve Witkoff reportedly confirmed that efforts are underway to conduct negotiations between all stakeholders.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is also scheduled to meet Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar in Washington later this week, as per reports.

The talks will focus on humanitarian aid to Gaza and reconstruction of region after the war, noted the reports.

Notably, resolution of Gaza-Israel conflict was one of the campaign propaganda for Trump during his 2024 presidential run.

However, this can prove a tough journey for the Washington.

Far from any resolution, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has defended his government’s controversial plan to take full military control of Gaza City, describing it as the “speediest and most effective way” to end the ongoing war.

In a press conference, Netanyahu insisted that Hamas’ continued refusal to surrender its weapons has left Israel with no alternative but to press forward with its military campaign.

“Given Hamas’ refusal to lay down its arms, Israel has no choice but to finish the job and complete the defeat of Hamas,” he said, adding that Israeli forces already have control over 70–75% of Gaza.

The operation has faced widespread criticism from the international community, including some of Israel’s closest Western allies, over humanitarian concerns.

Israel PM said that discussions are underway with the United States to implement additional humanitarian measures, including expanding aid delivery via ground routes and airdrops, as well as increasing the capacity of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s distribution points.

Netanyahu also said he hoped international organisations—and possibly the United Nations—would join in the effort, although he criticized the UN’s past engagement in Gaza.
