Trump slams Israel over Beirut attack, says ‘it should not have happened’

US President Donald Trump on Sunday criticised Israel over an attack on Beirut, saying the strike should not have taken place at a time when a peace agreement with Iran was close.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump said the attack was unnecessary, claiming the incident that prompted Israel’s response was “very small and meaningless” and resulted in no casualties.
“This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran,” Trump wrote.
While reaffirming Israel’s right to defend itself, Trump urged restraint from all sides. He said there should be no further Israeli attacks in Lebanon and no attacks against Israel by Hezbollah or any other party.
Trump expressed hope that the ongoing diplomatic efforts could lead to lasting regional stability, saying the proposed agreement could mark “the beginning of a long and beautiful peace” for the Middle East, including Lebanon.
